SAMUEL PAVEY - Born in Accomack Co. VA in July 1761.
While living in Guilford Co. NC in 1782, he enlisted for 18 months
in the Contiental line of NC and served in the 10th Regiment,
Captain Lythe's Company. After the revolution, he resided in
Delaware, Kentucky, Ohio, Wayne and Fayette County, Indiana,
and eventually settled in Madison Co.
(Research Note: There is some mention of past practice of Revolutionary
War field commanders prematurely releasing men under their command,
undocumented, to work the enlistee's respective farm. How widespread
this practice was, and if it played a part in Samuel Pavey's case
is not
known. On 21 April 1834, The NC Secretary of State declared Samuel
had deserted on the 16th of March 1783, according to the state
muster
rolls. We have found no further positive action on his pension
application. There was no mention of any family.
